What this site is
VATCalculator.ie does one job: it adds or removes Irish VAT at the correct current rate (23%, 13.5%, 9% or 4.8%) the moment you type a number. Around the calculator sit plain-English guides on VAT registration, Irish VAT rates and filing a VAT3 return.
It exists because most VAT tools online are built for the UK, and the official material on revenue.ie is accurate but heavy going when you just need a number for an invoice.
Where the data comes from
Every rate on this site comes from the official tables published by Revenue (revenue.ie). Nothing is estimated.
How it stays accurate
An automated check compares our rates against revenue.ie every Monday. If Revenue changes anything (Budget day being the usual suspect), the mismatch is flagged the same week and the site is updated straight away.
Who runs it
VATCalculator.ie is a personal project, built and maintained by an independent web developer. It is free to use and not affiliated with any government body or official organisation. The tools here are provided for convenience; for decisions that matter, always confirm with the official source linked above.
